Roshan Shah was a Montebello High School math teacher from 1993 to 2024 who worked with students from a socioeconomically disadvantaged California neighborhood to prepare them for success. He introduced students to a STEM curriculum that focused on practical applications, and he helped many go on to attain rewarding engineering careers. Roshan Shah frequently mentored students outside of class, and he was voted “Best Teacher” by students for many years. He led graduation commencement ceremonies and emceed social (homecoming and prom) events at Montebello High School.
Mr. Shah was also an avid stock, options, and crypto trader who embraced technology, and who considered investing a critical pathway to building sustained wealth. He brought this personal passion to the classroom - advocating, designing, and teaching a groundbreaking financial statistics class. His students gained core skills in company evaluation and stock selection, and they competed to maximize returns on their mock trading portfolios.
Mr. Shah maintained a real estate brokerage presence during the housing boom of the early 2000s, and he was instrumental in providing many families the opportunity to purchase their first homes. He also operated a home-based online tutoring service focused on mathematics that helped many current and former students succeed academically.
